Enchanted

The last book I read was “Freakonomics” by Steven D. Levitt . A very unconventional and interesting book from one of the best minds living today . But the book took me more than 20 days to complete and was a bit of shame for me considering it was only a 200 page book . I am reading the 6th book in the Harry potter series right now and I am sure I am gonna finish it today .I just started the book a week ago and it is a 608 page book and I don’t want to finish it either. I just cant put the book down and it is the only thing I have looked forward to after finishing work everyday in the past week . So why the difference ?. What makes Harry Potter so interesting ? Why are even adults engrossed in the book while it is meant to be a children’s book ? So why do people who think it is kiddish to read Harry Potter turn fans just after they read the first book ? Whats so gripping about this book that kids connect so much with the main character that they don’t want Harry Potter to die in the last book.

These are the reasons why I think so.

The Magic World - Not many stories in the world can boost of creating a world of its own that makes many kids think it may well be true . This according to me was one of the primary reasons why this book became a phenomenon . The meticulous effort of the author that has gone into creating the magic world is definitely laudable .The magic school , the ministry of magic , quidditich – the game played by the wizards , the Hogwarts express , the moving photographs and many more have all become a craze in the real world . I really understood why a movie cant really stand up to its adapted book how ever high tech it is made when I saw the first potter movie . I really enjoyed reading the authors description of the magic world but the movie didn’t even create an impression and felt sorry for those who are seeing the movie without reading the book. I have stopped watching potter movies or for that matter any adapted movie.

The main character Harry Potter - People or rather Muggles who don’t follow Harry Potter think it’s the story of another Super Hero . The fact is he is not even portrayed as a talented boy . He is an ordinary kid who is ill-treated by his guardian family and somehow couldn’t come into terms with the magic world he is told he belongs to .A very normal character with emotions that you can expect from any kid. In fact , if I remember correctly not in all the first 6 books has Harry done a great act of wizardry considering that he is the main character . He doesn’t do that well in exams , cant understand the classes properly and is always helped by someone or something to get out of trouble . Every character in the book pities Harry Potter and it is same with the reader too . But this is the reason what makes me wait impatiently for the next book . I really am interested on how the seventh book is going to be knowing well about this character and how it is going to do what it is supposed to.

The story telling and narration . If you think Harry potter books are written one and one , you are definitely wrong . At least the main characters , happenings and twists were well conceived during the first book it self ,at least according to me . The book has many back and forth references that really amazes you and which is not possible if each book is stared afresh after the previous one . I can put a few examples here but it would be too technical. Also the narration is as gripping as it can ever get . Each book throws out a lot of mysteries and even though many are solved and many answers given you still have a feeling that only the last book is going to answer it all.

Well by now if you have got a feeling that I am a jobless and useless Harry Potter fan , you cant be more right .

So for all you muggles who haven’t read Harry Potter still ALOHOMORA!

If you are a potter fan reading this I really would like to know which potter book is ur favourite.

I liked the second one "Chamber of secrets " the most.
